Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Trawler officers arrested a 23-year-old man at a home in Ultimo on Tuesday morning.
He has been charged with using a carriage service to groom persons under 16, and transmitting indecent material as well as using a carriage service to solicit child pornography.
Police will allege he thought he was speaking to a 13-year-old girl and engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with her and requested child abuse material.
He has been refused bail to reappear in court on Wednesday.
