Alleged drink driver damages multiple vehicles in Gold Coast car park

A Gold Coast man has been charged with drink driving after he allegedly crashed his car while almost three times over the legal limit.

Police were called to a complex parking lot at Beach Road in Surfers Paradise just after 1.00 am today.

On arrival, it appeared that a silver Nissan Tilda hit and damaged three vehicles in the complex before the man fled the vehicle on foot.

He was found by police a short time later along Remembrance Drive, where he allegedly returned a breath test of 0.137.

That’s just under three times the legal limit.

The 25-year-old Tallai man has been charged with drink driving, failing to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash and giving the drivers required particulars to the owner of property damaged and obstructing police.

He’s due to appear in Southport court on December 8.
