Alleged fugitive found hiding in car on back of truck at Gold Coast border

An alleged fugitive has been arrested at the Queensland border after police found him hiding in the boot of a car on the back of a truck overnight.

The 33-year-old man was wanted for a breach of bail in the Northern Beaches area and was last seen at Bayview on Monday, October 25.

A joint investigation between the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Australian Border Force, the NSW Crime Commission, and interstate police led Queensland Police to intercept a truck that was stopped crossing the border into Queensland at around 1.00 am on Wednesday morning.

Officers searched a container on the back of the truck, which concealed a grey Mercedes.

The 33-year-old man was allegedly found inside.

Reports out of NSW say the man is wanted over his part in a major cocaine shipment into the state.

He’s been on the run for a couple of weeks.

The man has since been arrested and taken to the Southport Watch House, where the warrant was executed.

NSW Police will seek his extradition in Southport Court later today.

Investigations are still underway.
