Alleged robber arrested on Gold Coast after 19 years on the run

A Gold Coast man has been extradited to New South Wales over an armed robbery in Sydney 19 years ago.

The 38-year-old man was wanted over his alleged involvement in the hold-up of a service station in Lakemba in April 2003.

The man failed to appear in court later that year with a warrant issued for his arrest.

New South Wales Police received information last month that the man was living on the Gold Coast.

The man was arrested at a home in Coomera on Monday.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday where New South Wales Police successfully applied for his extradition.

He fronted Tweed Heads Local Court yesterday where he was granted conditional bail to appear in court in Sydney on March 30.
