Alleged serial thief charged over Gold Coast home break-ins

Police have managed to track down a man accused of breaking into a number of homes on the Gold Coast during a four-month crime spree.

The 41-year-old was taken into custody at a house on Ogilvie Crescent in Nerang on Wednesday, after detectives executed a search warrant on the property.

It’s alleged the man broke into homes in Coorparoo, Helensvale, Pacific Pines, Highland Park and Reedy Creek between September 23 2020 and January 13 2021.

During the break-ins, he allegedly stole a range of expensive items including a grey Mazda hatchback, electronics and $80,000 worth of jewellery.

The man has since been charged with seven counts of burglary, two counts of failure to appear and one count each of enter dwelling with intent, unlawful use of motor vehicle, fail to take reasonable care and precaution in respect of syringe or needle.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Great work by the Police to catch another low life.
Hopefully the court will deal with him appropriately.
