Almost 100 teens treated by paramedics, 9 arrested on day three of Schoolies

A large crowd converged in the Surfers Paradise CBD for day three of Schoolies overnight, with 11 school leavers arrested and almost 100 treated by paramedics.

Police said that whilst they were pleased with the overall crowd behaviour, drugs continue to be the main concern.

“There were nine Schoolies arrested on 11 offences overnight, mainly for drug possession offences,” Qld police said in a statement.


“Of those arrested, eight were male and one was a female schoolie.”

Six Schoolies were also issued with liquor infringements notices, while 14 Toolies were arrested on 20 charges relating to public nuisance and drug possession.

Paramedics treated 98 people within the Ambulance Treatment Centre, with two Schoolies needing transport to hospital.

Of those assessed by paramedics, 63 were female and 35 were male.
