Woman charged after schoolboy abducted in NSW Riverina

UPDATE @ March 11: A woman has been charged over the alleged abduction of a young boy in the NSW Riverina Region.

The 12-year-old was the subject of an Amber Alert on Wednesday after he was last seen leaving a school in Culcairn about midday the previous day.

Following the alert, the child was thankfully found safe and well in Lake Macquarie around 10pm on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where she was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage (DV).

She was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.

EARLIER @ March 10: An Amber Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old boy who was abducted after leaving school in the NSW Riverina region.

The child was last seen leaving an education facility in Culcairn about midday yesterday.

Police say the boy is believed to be in the company of a 36-year-old woman, who is known to frequent the Wagga Wagga area.

Police are appealing for urgent help to find the child and are asking the public to be on alert and report any sightings of the boy or woman immediately.
