A restaurant in Kirra is set to serve up American fare with a twist, when it re-opens to the public this weekend.
Saint Helens Bar + Kitchen, located under the Kirra Beach Resort, will unveil its fresh menu and digs from Thursday.
Owner and Head Chef, Jess Hayes, who hails from Seattle in the United States, said locals can expect to feast on innovative share-foods with beers on tap and exciting cocktails.

“I’ve taken some of our favourite American dishes and injected them with a fresh and flavourful twist,” she said
“So often, the American foods I grew up with were very one dimensional – typically sickly sweet or overtly greasy. However, I’ve always enjoyed balancing flavours with garden-fresh herbs, pops
of spice and a good dose of acidity”.
Saint Helens Bar + Kitchen menu highlights include: Sugar cured Rainbow Trout served with coleslaw, potatoes and dill pickle tartare; Slow roasted pork shoulder with Saint Helens’ seasoning, polenta and peach chutney; Grilled flank steak, honey and soy marinated served with potatoes and greens.
There’s also plenty of moreish vegan dishes on offer, including Saint Helens signature KFC Cauliflower (aka Kirra Fried Cauliflower) and the “pulled pork” jackfruit sliders with bourbon
BBQ and coleslaw.
After a two-week soft opening in December 2018, Jess and her husband Brendan Hayes closed the restaurant to fine-tune its menu and interior décor receiving some guest feedback.
“It had to be right”, says Jess. “Now that we’ve perfected our offering, we’re thrilled to officially unveil Saint Helens Bar + Kitchen to the Gold Coast from Thursday 21st February.”
