Angelina Jolie lashes out at Germany

Angelina Jolie has criticised Germany.  The Actress said on Tuesday, while Germany’s decision to open its borders last year was a “beautiful thing”, it fuelled the disorder spreading across the EU.

It comes after she appeared to urge Britain to stay in the EU – saying the “worst possible choice we could now make is to decide to step back from the world”.

And she said countries had an “international responsibility” to take in those fleeing war and persecution.

She told a BBC conference: “If your neighbour’s house is on fire you are not safe if you lock your doors. Strength lies in being unafraid.”

Jolie added that amid a fear of uncontrolled migration there was a “risk of a race to the bottom, with countries competing to be the toughest, in the hope of protecting themselves whatever the cost or challenge to their neighbours.”

She also weighed in on Donald Trump’s plan for a ban on Muslims.

She said: “America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms.

“So it is hard to hear that this is coming from someone who’s pressing to be an American president.”
