ANZAC Day services on the Gold Coast 2022
One of the biggest ANZAC Day services on the Gold Coast is set to return to Elephant Rock for the first time since 2019.
Palm Beach / Currumbin RSL President Michael Humphreys told myGC they are anticipating a huge turnout for the dawn service on Monday.
“We are expecting at least 20,000 [people] or more. It’s an exciting service this year, we’ve done some little tweaks,” he said.
“The community have a need to be in attendance at the rock. It’s not just our commemoration, it’s for all of the Gold Coast.
“ANZAC Day is the main opportunity for Australians to commemorate and offer their respects for all the soldiers, sailors and airmen who’ve lost their lives in wars since 1918. It’s a really important day.”
Mr Humphreys said locals who are unable to attend a service on April 25 can take part in Light Up The Dawn.
“If you can’t get out and see a service, you light up with your lights and stand at your driveway and pay your respects during the dawn,” he said.
