A SOCIAL media campaign aimed at getting the Gold Coast trending worldwide in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games is expected to reach around 10 million people.
Gold Coast Tourism have launched the #GameOnGoldCoast campaign on popular crowd-speaking platform Thunderclap, which blasts out a timed Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr post, creating a wave of attention.
The posts will go live from 8am on August 4 following the flag handover ceremony at the closing of the Glasgow Games.

The simultaneous flood of messages, which currently have a combined reach of around 9.7 million people, will cause #GameOnGoldCoast to trend worldwide on social media – promoting the city to the globe.
Celebrities and sporting identities are using their star status to spread the word, with the movement first gaining momentum after home-grown singer Cody Simpson signed up with his 6.8 million supporters.
Locals, friends, family and visitors are being asked to support the cause and share a message of anticipation and celebration.
