“Armed and dangerous” son arrested after dad bashed in brutal domestic

UPDATE 12:30PM | A man has been arrested after allegedly brutally assaulting his father, discharging a firearm, and fleeing in a car near Bathurst, in regional Victoria last night.

Shortly after 11am today, officers arrested the 46-year-old man at a home in O’Connell, without incident.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he is this afternoon assisting police with their inquiries.

EARLIER: Police are searching for an “armed and dangerous” man who is alleged to have brutally assaulted his father at gunpoint at a home in regional Victoria.

David Casey, 46, is alleged to have stormed his parent’s home in O’Connell, Bathurst, at around 10.30pm last night, armed with a revolver.

Police said Casey allegedly threatened both his mother and father, before viciously assaulting his 79-year-old dad.

The 46-year-old then allegedly discharged the revolver into the floor of the house before fleeing.

Police said he took off in a white Holden Colorado utility with registration CDB-43L.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Police said he may be armed with a revolver and a rifle.

Casey’s father was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Bathurst Hospital.

Police said his injuries were “serious”.

A crime scene was established at the house and investigations into the assault are continuing.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to help locate David Casey.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 185cm to 190cm tall, with a thin build and brown hair.

Detectives are warning the public not to approach him or his Holden Colorado.

“As David Casey may be armed, officers are urging anyone who knows the whereabouts of the man or the utility not to approach, but contact Triple Zero (‘000’) immediately,” police said in a statement.
