A man has been shot dead by police following a confrontation outside Central Station in Sydney’s CBD.
The shooting happened near a florist on Eddy Avenue around 6.45pm.
In a statement, police said they were called to the scene following reports of an armed robbery at a business near the entrance to Central Railway Station.

“Officers arrived soon after. A man was shot and died at the scene a short time later. He has not yet been identified,” police said.
“A critical incident team from the Homicide Squad will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
“That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.”
Police confirmed the incident is not believed to be terrorism-related.
