Armed men on the run after robbing Gold Coast cab driver

A manhunt is underway on the Gold Coast after a taxi driver was robbed by two masked men armed with steak knives.

Police say the cab driver picked up the pair from a park on Coolangatta Road in Tugun around 6.50pm last night before driving them to Currumbin.

“The men asked the driver to stop at the front of a house at Mainsail Place at Currumbin at which time both men produced knives and made demands for money,” police said.

The pair managed to obtain money before fleeing the scene.

Thankfully the 57-year-old taxi driver managed to escape uninjured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
