Police said the offender arrived at the Coles Express service station on Bermuda Street, Robina in a Taxi around 10.45pm on Tuesday and approached the 18-year-old man filling up his vehicle.

It’s alleged the man produced a large “butchers knife” and threatened the teen before demanding his car keys and fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

The silver 2009 Holden Cruze with Queensland registration 250 RKN was later seen at service stations in the Palm Beach and Robina areas before heading north on the highway.

Police said there appeared to be no initial confrontation between the man and the Taxi driver, however did say the man told the driver he was armed and was about to commit an offence.

He evaded the cab far and the Taxi driver left the scene and contacted police.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 175cm tall, aged between 25-30 years old with blue eyes and shaved head and last seen wearing a dark hooded jacket, black jeans and a light printed camouflage t-shirt.
