UPDATE @ 1.30pm: A 17-year-old woman is due to face court this afternoon after taking her grandmother hostage at a home in Southport overnight.
Around 9.30pm, police declared an emergency situation after reports that a woman in her 60s was being held in a house on Cotlew Street by a woman armed with a knife.
Police negotiated with the woman throughout the night, and she was taken into custody around 4am.

A 61-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment for what are believed to be minor injuries.
A 17-year-old Southport woman has been charged with one count each of serious assault of a person over 60, assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty and torture.
She is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this afternoon.
EARLIER@ 7.30am: A 17-year-old girl is expected to be charged after taking her grandmother hostage at a home in Southport overnight.
Around 9.30pm, the teen stormed a house on Cotlew Street armed with a knife.
Police closed down the surrounding the area while they negotiated with the woman before storming the home and taking the teen into custody around 5.00am.
A 61-year-old woman remains in hospital receiving treatment for minor injuries.
EARLIER @ 5.00AM: An eight-hour siege has come to an end in Southport after a woman, believed to be armed, barricaded herself inside a building.
There are claims a 17-year-old woman stormed the home around 9.30 on Thursday night armed with a knife and held her grandmother hostage, although the claims are yet to be confirmed by police.
Police closed down the surrounding the area while they negotiated with the woman before storming the home around 5.00am.
The 17-year-old has been taken away by police while the 61-year-old has been taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
EARLIER @ 4.20am: Police have shut down several streets in the Southport area overnight after a woman, who is believed to be armed, barricaded herself inside a building.
It is believed another person is inside the residence.
Police declared an emergency situation around 9.30pm on Thursday which covers the area of Myall Street, Coolibah Street, Loweana Street, Cotlew Street and Lavinia Street.
Police have made contact with the woman and are continuing their negotiations.
People are being asked to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
