Attempted child abduction from netball courts

A young girl was with her family at a sporting event in south Sydney when snatched by a man.

Police say the nine-year-old was approached at the netball courts on Wandella Road in Miranda, just after 9am on Saturday.

The man picked her up and began to carry her away, but the girl yelled out and broke free.

She wasn’t physically injured and ran to her father to tell him about the incident.

Police were alerted and officers conducted a patrol of the area; however the man could not be found.

Detectives would like to speak to a man who they believe could assist with investigations.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with a solid build and wearing a black jumper and blue jeans.
