Attorney-general appeals bus attackers soft sentence
THE Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie has announced he’ll appeal the sentence of a 21-year-old woman who assaulted an elderly vision impaired man on a Gold Coast bus.
Larna Watmough was sentenced to two months’ jail, wholly suspended, and 12 months’ probation in the Southport Magistrates Court after she assaulted the 77-year-old man while they were riding on the bus.
The Attorney-General’s appeal is on the grounds that the sentence is manifestly inadequate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will act on his behalf in the District Court.
