Aussie athletes to be celebrated at Commonwealth Games street parade

AUSTRALIAN athletes will today be applauded for their amazing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games performances at a special street parade in Brisbane.

More than 40 Aussie Athletes will take part in the parade, with the inspiring Kurt Fearnley, Arianne Titmus and Dane Bird-Smith leading the march.

The celebrations will kick off at midday, with the parade running from Reddacliff Place, continuing through Queen Street Mall before finishing with an on-stage presentation at King George Square.

Australian Team Chef de Mission, Steve Moneghetti said the parade will also give athletes an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Australian community for their amazing support.

“Our team was overwhelmed by all of the support during Gold Coast 2018, from right across Australia,” he said.

“The Australian Team was able to achieve incredible success on the Gold Coast and a big part of that success is owed to the amazing home crowd support.”
