The pay-TV giant has confirmed Monday night’s episode of Game of Thrones broke the record for the most watched overnight program in Australian subscription television history.
887,000 viewers sat down to watch The Dragon and the Wolf – the seventh and final episode in the latest series.

GoT fans across the globe have been in a spin for the past six weeks, racing home each Monday to watch each of the episodes before spoilers are leaked online.

“The incredible success of this worldwide phenomenon is evident not just from its gripping storytelling, unrivalled cinematography and nail-biting action, but from the response of its fans,” Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television said.
Game of Thrones has received an incredible 100 Emmy Award nominations since 2011, and has won a total of 38 Emmys – the most of any fictional series in history.
