Australia’s Madison de Rozario has taken out the women’s wheelchair race at the London Marathon, while Gold Coast legend Kurt Fearnley finished in fifth place.
24-year-old de Rozaria finished in one hour 42 minutes 58 seconds on Sunday ahead of four-time champion Tatyana McFadden.
She is the first Australia to win the race.

Her victory comes just a matter of days after claiming gold in the T54 1500m and marathon for Australia at the Commonwealth Games.
Fellow champion Kurt Fearnley also competed in the men’s wheelchair event and crossed the line in fifth.
The 37-year-old, who competed for the last time for Australia at the Commonwealth Games, finished in one hour, 31 minutes 24 seconds.
Fearnley was one of the first to take to social media to congratulate de Rozario on her win, sharing a picture of the two after they had crossed the line.
