AN AUSTRALIAN tourist has been harassed and threatened by right-wing activists during a visit to India.
Matthew Gordon’s tattoo of Hindu fertility goddess Yellama sparked outrage while he was at a restaurant with his girlfriend in the southern city of Bangalore on the weekend.
About a dozen activists from the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party are believed to have taken offence and threatened to ‘skin’ the Aussie tourist.

They ordered Mr Gordon to remove the tattoo from his shin as it apparently offended their religious sentiments.
When Mr Gordon went to Police, they agreed the body art was offensive.
“(They said) ‘This is India and we are insulting Hindus’,” Mr Gordon explained.
“They let me go only after I gave an apology saying I will cover this tattoo.”
