Aussie women triumph in Cricket World Cup opener

Australia’s female cricketers have kicked off their World Cup defence with a massive win, taking down the West Indies on Monday.

The side recorded a massive eight wicket win over, after the West Indies collapsed for 204 in the 48th over.

Ellyse Perry starred for the Australian bowlers taking 3-37, while Kristen Beams and Jess Jonassen grabbed two wickets each.

But it was an amazing knock from opener Nicole Bolton that saw Australia cruise for victory with 11.5 opvers to spare.

Bolton scored 103 (not out) while fellow opener Beth Mooney scored 70.

Between them they put together 171 runs in the opening exchange.
