Aussies wanted over Bali cop murder
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it’s aware of reports that a Byron Bay woman, and an Australian man, are being sought by Indonesian police in Bali.
The body of a local policeman, in his uniform, was found by nearby hotel security officers on Kuta Beach.
The officer had severe injuries to his neck and leg, and a smashed beer bottle was found lying on the sand next to his head.
The Australian woman’s handbag was found nearby however police have stressed they want to question her and have not named her as a suspect.
DFAT says it stands ready to provide consular assistance to the two Australians.
An alert has been sent to immigration officials in Bali to prevent the pair from leaving the island.
