Australia aiming to maintain golden glow at Carrara Stadium

After a gold rush in the pool and at the velodrome, Australia is hoping to transfer that success to the athletics arena at Carrara Stadium today.

Leading the Australian challenge is Kathryn Mitchell in the women’s javelin. The 35-year-old is in the form of her life after her world leading and Australian record throw of 68.57m in Melbourne in March. Australia also boasts the Commonwealth No.2 in Kelsey-Lee Roberts.

More success should come in the two Para events with world record holder Isis Holt in the women’s T35 100m and Cameron Crombie in the men’s F38 shot favoured to land gold.

Henry Frayne is a hot contender to take out the men’s long jump, while Brandon Star could come away with a medal in the men’s high jump.
