If you’re waiting for a Christmas present to arrive in the mail, you may be part of history today.
Australia Post is preparing for it’s biggest delivery day ever, as posties work around the clock to deliver parcels to people’s doors.
More than three million packages are expected to be delivered around the country today, breaking the record first set in the leadup to Christmas last year, and then again on Cyber Monday.

Australia Post says Aussies have been shopping up a storm online, with an estimated five million parcels processed over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend, and over two million parcels delivered every single day for the last three weeks.
“With more than three million parcels expected to be delivered today, it is going to be a big day for all our hard-working staff right across our network, and is set to become our biggest single delivery day ever,” Australia Post Group Chief Operating Officer Bob Black said.
“Our new facilities and automation, together with the recruitment of more than 3000 new staff in the leadup to Christmas, is helping us deliver more Christmas cheer than ever before.”
Mr Black said the most popular categories appear to be toys and games, as well as fashion and jewellery, followed by health and beauty products.
Last December, Australia Post delivered more than 40 million parcels, up from 37 million the year before, with the growth only expected to continue.
