Australian man charged with child exploitation after tip-off from US detectives

An Australian man is due to face court today charged with child exploitation offences.

The 36-year-old man was arrested at a home in Mount Helena, Perth in late July after Australian detectives received a tip off from US authorities.

“In June, the Western Australian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team received a referral from Homeland Security Investigations in the United States in relation to the alleged online activities of an Australian man,” Australian Federal police said in a statement.

As a result, detectives raided the man’s home seizing multiple electronic devices which allegedly uncovered child exploitation material.

He was charged with using a carriage service for child pornography material, an offence which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment.
