Australian man charged with child exploitation after travelling to UK

A MAN has been charged with a range of child exploitation offences after he allegedly travelled to the UK to meet up with a young person.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Thursday after officers from the Victorian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team executed a search warrant at his Thornbury home.

During the raid, officers seized a number of items.

Police say they allege the man “travelled to the UK, met with a young person and committed a range of offences.”

He has been charged with engage in sexual activity (other than sexual intercourse) with a child under 16, produce child pornography material outside of Australia and possession of child pornography.

The man is due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The maximum penalty for the offences the man has been charged with is imprisonment for 15 years.
