Australian Olympic champion Betty Cuthbert has died

Australian Olympic champion Betty Cuthbert has died, aged 79.

The track and field legend passed away after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Cuthbert was only 18-years-old when she won gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.

In 1964, Cuthbert added a fourth Gold medal to her tally, winning the 400m sprint at the Tokyo Olympics.
