Australian restaurant fined for storing food on toilet floor

AN Australian restaurant has been busted storing food on the floor of a toilet – one of a string of disgusting hygiene breaches for which it has copped a $24,000 fine.

The Melbourne restaurant which is close to a university in Clayton pleaded guilty to 17 charges and was fined $24,500, with the company’s former director fined $41,000 including court costs.

It’s alleged the restaurant had cockroaches, a filthy kitchen and broken fridges in which dairy products were being stored.


Bags of rice were also found on the floor of the toilet area.
