Australian sports broadcaster Bruce McAvaney reveals he has cancer
PROMINENT Australian sports broadcaster Bruce McAvaney has revealed he’s battling cancer.
The 63-year-old told the Herald Sun he was diagnosed with leukaemia more than two years ago after he returned an abnormal blood test during a routine check-up.
McAvaney says the disease has not stopped him from living a complete life.
“It is quite strange to say I have leukaemia because I feel well,” McAvaney told the Herald Sun on Friday.
“Look it could be very serious … It could jump out of the ground at any moment. I don’t expect it will. But I’m living a complete life with no restrictions.”
According to the Herald Sun, McAvaney is determined to lead the Seven Network’s AFL coverage over the next 27 weeks.
