Australian teen shot in Paris “brave girl”

AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has spoken with the Tasmanian teenager injured in the Paris attacks.

19-year-old Emma Grace Parkinson from Hobart is recovering in a Paris hospital after being shot in the hip outside the Bataclan theatre.

Ms Parkinson is the only known Australian victim of the attack and Mr Turnbull has described her as a “brave girl”.

While the Foreign Minister has confirmed she has also spoken with Ms Parkinson, who lives in Germany, and believes she is on the road to a full recovery.

“She’s going to recover from the gunshot wound that she suffered,” Ms Bishop told Channel Seven.

There are 2,500 Australians registered in France at the moment and the Government is urging everyone to contact loved ones to let them know they are alright.

“We are asking Australians to rethink the need to travel to Paris,” Ms Bishop added.
