An Australian woman has been shot and killed by police in the United States.
The 40-year-old victim, believed to be from Sydney, was shot dead in south Minneapolis on Saturday night local time.
It’s understood police were responding to a 911 call of a “possible assault” when the fatal incident occurred.

The victim’s stepson said on social media that the woman had phoned police after hearing a noise near her house.
The woman was reportedly engaged to be married to an American man next month.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension released a statement, saying the “officers’ body cameras were not turned on at the time and the squad camera did not capture the incident”.
“Investigators are attempting to determine whether any video of the incident exists.”
An investigation is underway.
