Australians warned against travelling to north east India

We are being urged to think twice before heading to north east India, where 14 people have been shot dead, possibly by separatists.

Gunmen dressed in military uniform opened fire in a busy marketplace in the state of Assam.  Dozens were injured in the shooting.

Times of India reported security forces in the area have killed one of the terrorists. Fifteen civilians have been reported injured in the incident.

An AK-47 was found lying next to a terrorist killed in an intense gun battle that lasted about 20 minutes.

Police are looking for other terrorists involved in the massacre.

Apart from opening fire on the market, the terrorists also lobbed a grenade that ravaged three shops.
