Australia’s best SUP surfers and racers to compete at Currumbin

OVER 300 of the country’s best SUP competitors are set to descend on Currumbin for the Toyota Australian SUP titles from October 15-19.

The Australian SUP titles will be held across three disciplines: surfing; technical race; and a 20km marathon. Results will form the basis of Team Australia selection for the ISA World SUP titles in 2015.

Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark said Currumbin is an absolute perfect location for the event.

“Stand-up paddleboarding has exploded in popularity and participation over the last few years and the Toyota Australian SUP Titles will showcase the very best SUP competitors from around Australia all striving to be crowned prestigious Australian champions,” said Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark.

This year’s event will also see the introduction of two SUP Community Challenges on Sunday, October 19. It will include a short course (5-10km) race, which will include six individual divisions, as well as a marathon race (20km), which will include an Open Men’s and Open Women’s division. These new additions will allow the general public to take part in the 2014 event.

SUP Community Challenge competitors do not need to qualify through their state rounds.
