Australia’s largest coal mine given tick of approval

Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt has approved the controversial Adani coal mine and rail project in remote central Queensland.

The approval comes with 36 conditions, including a one-million-dollar donation to fund research into endangered species in the area.

The project is expected to produce up to 60 million tonnes of coal for export a year.
