Australia’s unemployment rate drops to 6.2%

Australia’s unemployment rate for August has fallen.

Australia’s estimated unemployment rate for August 2015 dropped from 6.3% to 6.2%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that the number of people employed increased by 17,400 to 11,775,800 in August.

The increase in employment was driven by increases in male full-time employment and female full-time and part-time employment, with the largest increase seen in full-time employment for males, up by 10,100.
