Australia’s virus death toll rises after death of cruise ship passenger

The coronavirus has sadly claimed the life of another person in Australia this morning.

A man in his 70s died in Western Australia, taking the national death toll to 78.

Health Officials confirmed the foreign national passed away in the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital overnight.

The man is the eighth person to die from the virus in WA.

It’s since been revealed he was a passenger on the Artania cruise ship, with four people from the same cruise now passing away.

The death comes after a 79-year-old woman passed away in Tasmania overnight, and follows the death of another 79-year-old woman in New South Wales yesterday.

The national death toll now stands at 78.
