Australia’s virus toll rises after 17th death at Sydney nursing home

The death toll from coronavirus in Australia is edging closer to 100, following the death of another resident at the virus-riddled Newmarch Aged Care House in Sydney.

The nursing home confirmed the sad news in a statement on Saturday morning.

“Tragically a resident of Newmarch House passed away last night,” Anglicare Sydney said.

“The family and all relevant authorities have been contacted.

“We are devastated at the passing and extend our deepest sympathies to the family as they grieve the loss of their loved one.”

It brings the total number of residents who have died from the virus since the outbreak began on Easter Sunday to 17.

The nations death toll has now risen to 98.
