AWLQ: Give a cat a fur-ever home for just $20 this weekend

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your home, now is the purrfect time to do it.

Animal Welfare League Queensland is partnering with von Bibra Auto Village to reduce adoption fees
on all adult cats this weekend only.

From today until Sunday 29th April, cat lovers can purchase a cat from the AWLQ Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre for just $20!

Animal Welfare League Queensland is hoping the reduced adoption fee will encourage people to add a precious new member to their family and make space for a further 750 cats in care waiting to find a home.

Melinda Phipps, AWLQ State Rehoming Manager said adult cat numbers have now reached critical levels due to a decrease in adoption numbers and prolonged breeding season.

“We currently have 110 adult cats and 59 kittens who are waiting to be adopted,” Ms Phipps said.

“Every animal that is rehomed provides a space for another in need of a new home, so you’re really helping two animals.

Ms Phipps said the reasons for the decrease in adoption is unknown, and is of real concern as 1,356 cats and kittens have come into AWLQ care since 1st of January.

Von Bibra Auto Village, a proud supporter of AWLQ, is generously covering the loss in adoption costs during the runout sale.

Managing Director Wade von Bibra is urging residents across the Gold Coast to open their homes and
adopt an adult cat this weekend.

“Come on down and make a difference, there is no greater gift to a shelter animal than a loving home,”  said Mr von Bibra.

“When you adopt a pet through AWLQ you are supporting an organisation that re-homes and cares for thousands of stray, surrendered and abandoned animals each year,”

AWLQ’s usual adoption process still applies and every cat is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.

The AWLQ Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre is located in Shelter Road, Coombabah.
