Baby boy critical after being struck by a forklift

A BABY boy is fighting for his life in the Royal Children’s hospital after he was struck by a forklift driven by his father.

The nine-month old sustained critical head injuries from the incident that occurred at the Blackley Automotive business on the Bellarine Highway in Geelong on Saturday evening at about 6:20pm.

A hospital spokeswoman said the boy underwent surgery on Sunday morning and his condition had remained critical throughout the day.


Police have spoken briefly with the distraught father, however respected the family’s wishes to be with their son during this horrific time.

Police and Victorian Work cover Authority officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
