Baby diagnosed with ‘invasive meningococcal disease’ in SA

A 10-month-old baby has been diagnosed with invasive meningococcal disease in Adelaide.

South Australia Health confirmed the infant had been admitted to hospital in a statement released on Thursday.

It is the first case of the potentially deadly meningococcal disease in South Australia for 2017.

It comes after four children were diagnosed with the disease in Brisbane over New Year.

They are all receiving treatment in the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
