Bail refused for man accused of drunk attack on Gold Coast flight

A DRUNKEN passenger accused of attacking a cabin crew attendant on a flight from the Gold Coast to Sydney last night has been refused bail.

The AAP reports the incident forced the pilot to send an emergency radio transmission to air traffic control in Sydney.

Andrew Nankivell, 30, was arrested by federal police at Sydney Domestic Terminal after the plane landed as scheduled.

The Adelaide man faced Sydney’s Central Local Court on Friday afternoon, charged with assault, endangering the safety of an aircraft and offensive behaviour on an aircraft.

If found guilty, Nankivell faces a maximum combined jail term of more than 20 years.

A bail application was refused and the case adjourned until June 25.
