Bailed Gold Coast ride-share drive accused of raping passenger to undergo disease testing

A Southport man who’s charged with sexual assault, has been granted conditional bail provided he gets tested for diseases.

The former Gold Coast Uber driver fronted court today, charged with raping a drunk passenger while she was unconscious on July 11.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Davina Cochrane successfully applied to have to the man tested for diseases.


He was also required to surrender travel documents.

The man – who cannot legally be named – was reportedly released on bail due to his lack of a criminal record.

The case returns to court on August 13.

It’s understood the Australian Border Force has been notified.
