Bali Nine drug mule Renae Lawrence back on home soil

After almost 14 years behind bars in Indonesia, Bali Nine drug mule Renae Lawrence has finally walked free.

The 41-year-old touched down on Australian soil early Thursday morning after being released from Bangli Prison on Wednesday afternoon.

Lawrence landed in Brisbane alongside her mother and step brother just before 6.00am.

The trio then made their way to a bus which took them to the domestic terminal in order to catch a flight back to their hometown of Newcastle.

Lawrence was one of nine people charged over a plot to smuggle heroin into Australia from the popular Indonesian tourist spot in 2005.

She was originally sentenced to life in prison, however it was reduced to 20 years on appeal.

It’s understood Lawrence is still wanted over an alleged police chase in a stolen car on the NSW Central Coast back in 2005, however it’s unknown when police will speak with her about the charges.

Lawrence was due to face court over the chase over a decade ago, however she was arrested in Bali with 2.6 kilograms of heroin strapped to her body.
