Bali Nine member Renae Lawrence to walk free from jail

After more than 13 years behind bars, Bali Nine drug mule Renae Lawrence is set to be released from jail.

The 41-year-old, who was one of nine people charged over a plot to smuggle heroin into Australia from the popular tourist spot in 2005, is expected to leave Bangli Prison this afternoon.

She will then be taken to an immigration processing centre to fill out final paper work before she is escorted to the airport to board a plane to Sydney later tonight.

According to 9News, Lawrence will not be taken into custody by NSW police after landing in Australia.

Earlier reports suggested the Bali Nine member would be arrested over an alleged police chase in a stolen car on the NSW Central Coast back in 2005.

Lawrence was due to face court over the chase, however was arrested in Bali with 2.6 kilograms of heroin strapped to her body.

Police will instead speak with her lawyers in relation to the charges.

Lawrence was originally sentenced to life in prison, however it was reduced to 20 years on appeal.
