Banda Sea earthquake felt in Darwin, BOM says

A MAGNITUDE 5.0 earthquake in the Banda Sea near Indonesia has been felt in parts of the Northern Territory.

The quake struck at a depth of around 108km north of the Tanimbar Islands, in the Maluku province of Indonesia, around 4:24pm AEDT, according to Geoscience Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the tremor was felt in Darwin.

The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre says there is no tsunami threat to Australia.
