Bandit steals jewellery store worker’s car in armed robbery

A Southport worker has had his car stolen during the armed robbery of a jewellery store.

He was confronted by a man carrying a gun inside the Minnie Street business around 10pm on Monday.

The robber stole cash and jewellery from the store, before then taking off in the 41-year-old employee’s car.

The man remains on the run and is described as approximately 175cms tall with a New Zealand accent, and was wearing a black hooded jumper/jacket, black tracksuit pants and thongs.

The stolen vehicle, a white Chrysler sedan, was found early Tuesday morning in a Southport street. It did not appear to have any major damage.
