A GOOD Samaritan who tried to save a woman who was being assaulted by a man in a car has been bashed by both the women and her attacker.
Police said the 28-year-old man saw a 29-year-old man repeatedly assaulting a 32-year-old woman in a car parked on Beaumont Street in Hamilton just after 12:30am on Sunday.
The witness tried intervening and helping the woman, however, police allege both her and her attacker then assaulted him.

A second witness contacted police who raced to the scene and located the couple with a 20-year-old man nearby.
Police allege this third younger man punched an officer several times in the head and all three suspects resisted arrest.
Following a struggle, they were all eventually arrested and taken into police custody.
Both men have since been charged with two counts of resist police, affray and larceny and are expected to appear in Newcastle Local Court on 8 December.
The woman was issued a future court attendance notice for resist/hinder police and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Her court date is being determined.
