In a huge coup for Gold Coast cricket fans, the Brisbane Heat has announced they’ll play two games of the 2018/19 Big Bash League at Metricon Stadium.
They take on the Big Bash 07 Champions, the Hobart Hurricanes, on December 22 before playing the Sydney Sixers on a New Years day clash.
Gold Coast MP Meaghan Scanlon told MyGC it’s a huge coup for the area.

“It’s extremely exciting to be breaking in new ground, having the first ever BBL game played in my electorate at Metricon Stadium,” she said.
“This comes after a huge amount of investment in lighting at the Carrara stadium which allows for professional cricket to be played at the venue.”
Gold Coasters will have plenty of chances to watch live cricket this summer without having to trek up the M1.
Australia will play South Africa in a T20 International at Metricon on December 17.
Minister Scanlon hopes the influx of cricket on the Coast helps inspire the next generation.
“I think it’s so important for young kids who are aspiring to be like Chris Lynn to be able to look up to these athletes and hopefully become professional cricketers themselves one day,” she said.
